Job Summary:

The Insurance and Billing Generalist supports the Operations of the company by performing activities involved in insurance management, billing, and accounts receivable management. This position works closely with the Insurance Operations Manager, Controller  and, as needed, interfaces with other staff members of the company to drive revenue and manage expenses for the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and follow up on insurance company required authorizations
  • Submit claims to insurance companies
  • Provider credentialing experience
  • Enter current authorizations into the Practice Management System
  • Post insurance payments to AR by line item detail
  • Submit requested medical documentation to insurance companies
  • Troubleshoot authorization related issues in the Practice Management System
  • Other duties as assigned (e.g., quarterly reporting)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Results oriented with ability to act with sense of urgency to meet client and Operations needs

Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • At least 1-2 years of previous experience in billing/authorization experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent analytical skills required.
  • Knowledge of authorization processes and insurance trends.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
