Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant supports the operations of Autism Home Support Services (AHSS) by performing activities involved in financial management and execution of the company.   This position works closely with the Director of Finance/Controller, the Insurance & Billing team and, as needed, interfaces with other staff members and clients to drive revenue and manage expense for the company.  S/he performs strategic projects as available to drive growth in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment while also performing day-to-day tasks as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, verify and enter journal entries: monthly entries from practice management system
  • Account Reconciliations and analysis, monthly
  • Preparation of A/R Aging Analysis, and monthly reports
  • Revenue cycle accounting
  • Perform monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Assist with Issuance of client refunds
  • Process payments/credit memos as required.
  • Respond to financial inquiries from clients and staff members
  • Ad hoc analysis and projects
  • Assist with year-end audits
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years work experience as an Accountant

Performance Skills: 

  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • QuickBooks experience a plus

Accounting Musts:

  • Monthly close experience including:
  • Account reconciliation
  • Journal entries
  • Accruals
  • Prepaid assets
  • Billing/invoicing experience
  • GAAP accounting experience a plus
  • Work independently and demonstrate effective influence skills
  • Proactive in resolving problems and anticipating financial needs of the company
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Recognize time as a valuable resource and manage time in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Work carefully with attention to detail
  • Display excellent organizational skills and utilize resources wisely
  • Proficiency in MS Office 2010 (Excel & Word required, PowerPoint a plus)
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clients, families, AHSS personnel, and others

Compensation:
